Getting started with our clinic
We’re glad you’re interested in becoming a patient of ReNovi Medicine! All of our new patients must first decide whether they’d like to establish care with Dr. Yen Ingrid-Lai, MD or establish care with one of our Nurse Practitioners (Rachel Christensen, FNP or Mary Strubhar-Brown, FNP).
Read below to decide which provider is the right fit for you.
Establishing care with MD
Highly motivated individuals interested in doing advanced integrative and functional medicine work to improve their health may establish care with Dr. Lai. This service includes extended appointment times, more specialized tests, heavy staff support for customizing care plans and coordination, added tools to encourage patient self-care, and expanded treatment options. This allows for more sophisticated investigative work necessary for assessing and treating health issues using an integrative functional medicine approach.
You’ll first begin with an hour-long initial consultation, where you and Dr. Lai will take a deep dive into your health concerns, identify potential underlying causes, and begin implementing a customized treatment plan.
At the end of this initial consultation, you and Dr. Lai will determine whether you could benefit from further care. If so, you will be invited to establish care and join Dr. Lai’s patient panel.
For primary care visits, you are able to see one of our nurse practitioners.
The initial consultation with Dr. Lai is self-pay; we do not bill insurance for this first visit.

In addition to the labs that can be ordered by our FNPs, Dr. Lai is also equipped to order and interpret a diverse panel of specialty labs and apply more specific/detailed diagnostic processes. Examples of specialty labs are stool tests, food sensitivity panels, hormone panels, etc.
Establishing care with FNP
New patients who are looking for primary care and some basic integrative medicine services may establish care with one of our Nurse Practitioners. They have experience in Integrative Medicine and Women’s Health and have a similar approach to Dr. Lai when it comes to patient care. Our MD and FNP frequently discuss each others’ cases: mutual “consultation” and physician overwatch is part of our existing team culture of group practice. Special time is set-aside for the MD to co-manage unique assessment and treatment planning with the FNP on a case-by-case basis.
You’ll first begin with an initial consultation, where the Nurse Practitioner will discuss your health history, identify your key health concerns, and place an extensive bloodwork order.
The clinicians, in addition to the typical primary care labs, may order some basic integrative labs. The clinician will come up with a personalized care plan based on integrative medicine principles and core supplements.
Our Nurse Practitioners can serve as your primary care provider.
Patients seeing one of our Nurse Practitioners can utilize in-network PPO insurance or be self-pay patients and pay cash rates per visit.
For further pricing details regarding the cash rates, please fill out our New Patient Form.
